IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #4

SplashLearn (https://www.splashlearn.com) is a free website that is designed as a game-based learning program for elementary grades. It focuses on covering foundational skills in Mathematics and Reading. For the Reading category, the lessons offered are only for age’s preschoolers to second graders. This website has been currently used in about 150 countries and multitudes of students have benefited from this website. This website can be installed in your own personal computer and your phone. The best thing about this SplashLearn is that the learning can keep going without internet, as long as you have an account, your student or child is free to roam and play when they can. This game-based website has about 4,000 Math and Reading curriculum-aligned lessons and games. The focus on this program is they want the student to discover learning is fun.

In order to get into the website, you just sign up for free as a parent or teacher. Your options will be given to you to sign up by using a google account or Facebook account. Once you create your account, you can choose which subject you want to start teaching your student. One requirement however for SplashLearn for teachers is that one must be a native speaker in English unless one can speak and is aware of the common core standards. So it is also an opportunity for a teacher to teach and get paid.

Once again SplashLearn offers online games and live courses based on the subjects math and ELA-reading and writing.
