Story Place: The Children’s Digital Learning Library is an online literacy platform that focuses on building literacy for children in Preschool. This site offers digital storybooks that are animated. When you click into one of the stories, you will see a few expansion activities below. There are online activities for children to do as well as hands-on crafting activities that have printable templates for teachers or parents.  Included are videos that relate to concepts or ideas learned in the storybook. These videos are used to expand upon ideas learned in the story. Under each story, there is a reading list that relates to the theme of the story. So if a student reads a story about firefighters and wants to read more about firefighters, recommendations are given in this list. 

    Another great feature for building literacy provided by this platform is a parent guide on how they can improve their child’s literacy skills. There is a Storytime calendar parents can follow at home. In addition, the platform provides English and Spanish options. Therefore, this could be a great tool for a bilingual student or an English Language Learner who’s first language is Spanish. In this way, students can have both versions of the story which can help make connections between the languages.

Students will be taking a diagnostic test for teachers to understand what level they are in, and it guides the teachers on how to differentiate the lessons for the students.
