Emelita Pineda- ED 638: Final Self-Reflection
As I close out this course with a final reflection, I look back at my first overview of the assignments. My initial reaction to the requirements was to panic. But after writing down all the due dates in my planner for better organization, I kind of calmed down. I had to collect my thoughts and re-evaluate my capabilities in completing all that was assigned. It was also a relief to know that I can always reach out to my colleagues in the cohort for guidance and encouragement as we tackled the course together.
During this course, I learned a lot about the different websites we researched and shared about in the blog as well as the discussions in Moodle. There were some websites that I was familiar with, but there were also a number of them that I had never heard of until now. Perusing through the reviews, I found myself bookmarking the websites that seemed the most relevant to my current curriculum, and I had also chosen a few favorites that I had already introduced to my students, such as Teen Ink.
Reflecting on what I learned in this course, I am appreciative of the fact that the strategies introduced to us through our assignments were applicable even if my current curriculum is not focused on literacy. I am looking forward to implementing my Geo-Narrative lesson plan in my classes and anticipating the positive impact it will have on the students’ learning. Despite the fact that we are still in this seemingly-never ending pandemic, learning and teaching must go on, and we can accomplish this as teachers with resiliency and continued commitment.
Overall, my goal for this course and for this program is not only to reach the target grades but to also learn as much as I can as a professional. Just like the other courses in the previous semesters, I believe my professional dispositions are on point. I attend class regularly online. I have turned in all my work in a timely manner, and I am competent in meeting all the course standards. Furthermore, I continue to have a positive attitude and have the ability to work well and continue to do so as a team member in online class activities. In closing, even with the heavy workload, I reminded myself that I must stay committed not only for myself, but also for my future students as I continue to learn through the rest of the program.
