Textproject focus is on increasing literacy levels of beginning and struggling readers through access to the “best possible texts.” Textproject is a non-profit corporation founded in 2010 in the State of California. It formalizes as a decade-plus of ongoing work by its founder, president and CEO Elfrieda H. Freddy.  Textproject provides three types of resources for educators: TEXT products, Teacher Support, and Research.

Textproject specialty lays in texts. They have texts for instruction of beginning and struggling readers and for read-aloud. However, the resources they have go beyond texts to include support for teachers such as guidelines, lists and forms. They also provide outstanding pictures to use for vocabulary instruction. Beneficial of using the Textproject is that the text provided can be used for tutoring students. They have guidelines to help support tutors and teachers in working with students.

Textproject has resources for teachers. Resources available on the Researchers section and the Teacher section contain over 300 texts for use in practicum. This part of the Textproject offers three types of resources for teacher education and professional development: (a) short articles and blogs on central topics in reading instruction, such as text complexity and vocabulary, that draw on current research and describe implications of research for practice, (b) professional development guides with activities for pre service and in service learning experiences, (c) videos, podcasts, and slideshows that describes and demonstrate evidence-based instructional practices.
