Samantha Aileen Chu Cheng's IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #6

Raz-Kids (https://www.raz-kids.com/) is an online platform with hundreds of leveled eBooks that let students read and take comprehension tests after each book. Students also can have the books read to them for modeled fluency. Since Raz-Kids is an online platform, students can access this website anytime and anywhere with the teacher's subscription.

One of the benefits that I like about Raz-Kids would be how teachers have control in assigning assignments to the students, and we could also monitor the students' progress based on their voice recordings of them reading the story. Raz-Kids is also aligned to the Common Core Standards, which is beneficial to teachers to help support our curriculum. Although this program would need a paid subscription to use, there is also an option for the free trial version of this platform so that teachers could see if they like the program and decide if they would want to purchase the program to continue using in their class.

Raz-Kids was introduced to me by another teacher, and he mentioned how his students enjoyed using this platform and how he saw it help his students improve when it came to reading and comprehending the texts. Raz-Kids also received various awards such as CODiE, EDDIE Awards,  and a Teachers' Choice Awards for the Classroom. I believe that this platform will be beneficial to the students, and it will help them continue learning and improving their literacy skills.
