Jeremie De Leon - Internet Tools

Blogger is the original idea that started blogging. It is a free online tool for creating blogs. With a Google account, anyone can create a blog that can have any topic. People have the freedom to post anything they want like cooking recipes or reviews of educational tech or tools. With the proper teacher supervision, students can create a blog where they can post things that are related to the class. Students can also share their experiences or ideas is a blog format. With the easy to navigate and simple interface, students and teachers can include texts, photos, and videos in their posts. They can also tag each post by specific subjects. For students to fully benefit from Blogger, teachers should provide structured lessons and step-by-step tutorials in the beginning. From there, the students should become less reliant on the teacher and will be able to post independently.

Users can also change the look of their blogs like background color, font style and size, and the layout of their blog. A unique feature of Blogger is that it allows group blogs that any number of contributors can edit. This feature can be used as a class project, where students can post their ideas about certain topics. Teachers can use Blogger to post updates or announcements about the class. Blogger is a useful tool for students to share and participate in class in a more creative method. Those that are shy or reluctant to participate will see that Blogger is a safe and reliable way for their voices to be heard.

Zoom is a video conferencing tool that can be a great tool for online learning. It has both a computer and mobile app and a free account is all that is needed. Once Zoom is started, the dashboard is simple to navigate through and teachers can send personal invites and links to their students. Teachers can use the screen sharing feature to present what they have on their screen to their students. This means that they can provide visual images and demonstrations that can greatly help students. They can also annotate the shared screen, which makes the lessons more interactive.

The chat feature also allows students to practice their writing skills. The breakout room feature allows the teacher to create multiple rooms where students can be assigned into groups. This feature is like cooperative learning groups in the face-to-face setting. The recording feature allows teachers to look over the lesson and carefully analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the students. The recorded lessons can also be provided to the students so that they can easily watch through parts at their own pace.

Internet4Classrooms is a free website that provides online resources that can be used in classroom instruction, creating project ideas, reinforcing specific content or skills both in the classroom and at home. The website also provides current online technology tutorials. All the resources can be accessed without any subscription fees. The resources are neatly organized into subject, grade level, skills, and Common Core State Standards.

The website is designed as portal, which means it provides external links to other websites that can help you with what you are looking for specifically. The external links provided have been tested and reviewed by the creators, who are professional teachers with years of experience. The creators of the website also provide professional development and will happily train teachers on a variety of online topics like how to teach with PowerPoint and WebQuest.
