Internet Tool: Google Classroom

            Google classroom is a free blending learning platform developed by Google for educational institutions that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignment online. It is the process of sharing files between teachers and students. Teachers and students communication in this learning platform integrates other Google application for education such as, Google doc, Google sheets, Google slides, Gmail and Google calendar. This site was created as a way to get rid of papers in classes and to make digital learning possible.  

            Google classroom allows teachers to set assignments, have work submitted by students, to mark, edit, comment of students work, graded papers, and return to students. It makes teacher work on assignments much easier than correcting papers, printing papers, and typing papers. It also makes grading paper much easier because give students score, it automatically record the students’ scores and average score for each students. Therefore, teachers just create an assignment using Google doc or from their computer and share it with their students online using Google classroom.

            Google classroom allows students to use Google doc, Google slides, Google sheets, and other Google application for education to submit their assignments. It allows students to see the assignment that shared by the teachers including the instructions, due date of the assignment, feedbacks on the assignment, and also their grades. Students need to have a Gmail account so they can enroll in Google classroom. They can also upload their assignment from Google doc or from their computer.

 

Internet Tool: Google Doc

                Google Doc is another Google application for educational learning. It is a tool that allows typing papers, creating presentations, share documents through email, and stores your work online. It also includes an online word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editor. It can import and update documents and spreadsheet in different fonts and file format, combining text with formulas, lists, tables, and images. Another interesting thing about Google doc, it will automatically save your work or your documents and allows you to make changes when needed.

It is better for teacher and students to use Google Doc because they can edit document at the same time and become a better writer. Google doc allows teachers to edit students work online and share with the students using their Email address. They can also save their work online using Google doc. Teachers can also use the spreadsheet in Google doc to records students’ grades and use it to assign students assignments. Teachers can share documents and spreadsheets with many students as they want. Therefore, Google doc can make your documents look professional in any way want.

Google Doc allows students to share documents or assignments with teachers, and also if they work in groups they can share their assignments with the member of their groups. It is a safe application for students to do their assignment because it will automatically save their work online. They can even share images, videos, audio and other things online with their teacher or other classmates.

 

 

 

Internet Tool: ReadWriteThink


ReadWriteThink is a platform that provides a variety of educational materials covering different literacy area such as reading, writing, listening and speaking. This site provides educators, parents and others with access to high quality practice in reading and language arts instructions with free materials. ReadWrtieThink is very useful for English Language Arts teachers from K-12th grade because they can access to the highest quality standards based practice, lesson plans, videos, activities, and apps for students to improve their reading and writing skills. They create plan that alignment to English language art standards. Educators can learn new teaching techniques and strategies in teaching language art or literacy.

You can search a topic in reading; choose grade level that you are teaching, and the instructional plan for the delivery of the lesson. It also provides assessment for any type of lesson that you want to use like; mini, recurring, standards, or unit lessons. ReadWriteThink also provide lesson objective for each reading and writing topic (collaboration, comprehension, and critical thinking) that align to the standards and assessment. 

            Finally, ReadWriteThink provide printout assessment tools, graphic organizer, information sheet, and writing starter for every user. Teachers can print students activities from this site based on the topic that they will be teaching. The most interesting part of this website, its covers different reading and writing topics that students may be interested to learn about like; art, career, drama, fiction, nonfiction, and others. Therefore, this is one of the effective literacy websites that will be applicable for every language arts teacher.
