Hattie Peter: ILA Newsletter Weekly Project: Effective Literacy Project Website #1
ReadWorks (https://www.readworks.org) is a website that teachers use to improve reading
comprehension for students of all levels K-12. Reading comprehension is still a
problem, so ReadWorks is made to assist teachers to help assess and improve
student performance. It is already used
by many and it is free.
In order to get access to ReadWorks, you must make an account. The easiest way is to have an existing google account and sign up. After signing up, you will receive and email to confirm that you have an account on ReadWorks. Once you go on the website, there is a category asking what grade you are interested in and what subject you want to work with. Then the next category is writing down the school you teach at. After this you create your class and invite students to enroll to the online class.
ReadWorks is resourceful and has a variety of contents that can help support student literacy in any content area from fiction to nonfiction. Teachers can give reading passages and even vocabulary activities for students to work on. All the activity materials are all printables and will be very useful. One good thing about ReadWorks is that the teacher even has his own binder.
